Carlos Juiz
Before joining the Department of Computer Science at the University of the Balearic Islands, Prof. Carlos Juiz had several positions related to the computer systems industry, mainly as Senior Systems Analyst. He was a visiting researcher at the Department for Computer Science and Business Informatics, University of Vienna, and a Visiting Associate Professor at Biomedical Informatics Research, at Stanford University. Carlos Juiz is heading the ACSIC research group and his research interest mainly focuses on performance engineering, Green IT and IT corporate governance. He is one of the creators of the ISO/IEC 38503 standard of corporate IT governance assessment. At UIB, Carlos has been sub-director of the Polytechnic School, Director of the Office of Planning and Prospective, and Vice-rector for Information Technologies. Regarding one of his practitioner passions, Carlos Juiz was the Director of the Chair from Telefónica at UIB, and currently, he is an executive vice-president at the Turistec cluster and also a board member of BalearesTurisme cluster. Carlos loves working in corporate governance and digital transformation and now is sharing his professional and professorship duties with a new laboratory of entrepreneurship and social innovation at UIB. -
Che Govender
Dr. Praneschen (Che) is Lecturer and Researcher XR in Hospitality, Hotelschool The Hague. Che, an immersive technologies practitioner born in South Africa and based in Amsterdam, currently works on integrating VR/AR into the curriculum at Hotelschool the Hague. He has experience in the research, design and facilitation of VR/AR experiences in tertiary institutions and has been involved in managing immersive technology research projects for integrating within higher education. He is a proponent of learning how to learn and self-directed learning as a future skill for reskilling in light of societal changes in technological times. In addition, he has a background in change management, diversity and leadership development and holds a PhD in Psychology from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. He has passionate about edTech innovation in the tertiary education sector and beyond. -
John Ottersbach
In zijn rol als Transformation Lead Data & Customer Services speelt John een belangrijke rol in de transformatie van APG naar een data-savvy en deelnemergedreven dienstverlener voor het vernieuwde pensioenstelsel. Met zijn ruime ervaring in het creëren van waarde met en uit data, opgedaan in eerdere rollen als management consultant bij Anderson MacGyver en als gepromoveerde deeltjesfysicus bij CERN, brengt John mensen en data samen om zowel op het gebied van operational excellence alsook customer experience de grenzen te verleggen. John woont met zijn vrouw en dochter in Aken. -
Mark Scholten
Mark is getrouwd, heeft twee dochters en woont in Amersfoort. Hij werkt aan de Hogeschool Utrecht als programmamanager Samen Digitaal, een programma dat als doel heeft om digitale vaardigheden en digitale innovatie binnen de Utrechtse regio te stimuleren. Mark is van oorsprong cognitiewetenschapper en besloot later in zijn carrière te gaan promoveren naast zijn baan als innovatie-deskundige in de zorg. Daarvoor kon hij terecht bij de universiteit Twente. Als onderwerp koos hij voor de onderzoeksvraag: kunnen Virtual Humans gebruikers van eHealth en eLearning interventies dusdanig stimuleren dat deze het gebruik van de interventie langer volhouden? Een Virtual Human is een robot, maar dan in 2D, op het beeldscherm. Mark onderzocht hierbij of een emotionele band (Engels: rapport) hierbij helpend zou kunnen zijn. Dat bleek inderdaad het geval te zijn en Virtual Humans die zich erop richten om zo’n band te bewerkstelligen zijn daarom inderdaad effectievere digitale maatjes voor mensen. Wat daar bij komt kijken en hoe synchroon een taak uitvoeren daarbij kan helpen, zal Mark uitleggen tijdens zijn presentatie.
